Although you need to have full access to the cell anytime you want to recover deleted text messages, SIM card readers are an excellent choice for anyone who needs to quickly retrieve a deleted text message. So which one should you get? In my opinion, cell phone monitoring software clearly comes out on top because once you install the software, you no longer need physical access to the cell phone. You'll get all the text messages, call logs, photos, and other data uploaded daily to your account, so you always have access to any deleted text messages and other data. The only "knock" on SIM card readers is the small number of supported handsets, plus it will generally only retrieve data that has not been overwritten with new data. This means you might only get 15-20 messages at best.
Regardless which one you choose, just make sure you verify that the cell you want to retrieve text messages from is supported and that you will have complete access to the cell phone for at least 30 minutes. Both cell phone monitoring software and SIM card readers require time to install and run the software, so make sure you give yourself enough time.
